Steep climb to the pass followed by a sharp descent. This is the longest day of your trek and the most grueling – and perhaps the most exciting too. It has enough adventure in store to haunt your memories for a long time. Rupin Pass is a high altitude pass across the Himalaya mountain range in state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It lies on a traditional shepherd and hiking rout which starts from Dhaula in Uttarakhand and ends in Sangla in Himachal Pradesh. The path itself is located across mostly uninhabited areas in the Himalayan ranges at an elevation of 15,250 ft (4,650M) above sea level.

The trail out of the campsite is a shepherd’s trail that heads to the valley below. After days you will come across shepherds tending to their flocks. The Rupin Pass is usually devoid of snow post monsoon, though snow patches exists. Intermittent snow fall happen in bursts three or four times in October, though the snow doesn't last for long. It gets very cold in the last half of October.Multiple trails join your path and some go away from it. If you come to two trails that look alike and you want to make a choice, it doesn’t matter. All of them lead to Sangla Kanda. Only, avoid the trails that head down to the river.

What Other Trekkers Are Saying About Rupin Pass Trek

The trek was well planned and executed. I learned a lot of things about outdoors which i had not in my previous ventures in Himalayas. I specially liked the idea of learning based approach followed by Himalayan hikers where focus is to impart knowledge to the participants. If i want of objectify, i have learned how to pitch my own camp, How to keep myself fit during the trek, The importance of height gain and some basic rope knots. I have also come to know the importance of getting a mountaineering certification."

Rupin Pass trek is one of the best in Northern India, starts from Uttrakhand and ends in Sangla, Himachal pradesh. You need to walk almost 80 Km's in majestic Himalayas in 7 days. You encounter majestic mountains, peaceful villages, rivers, waterfalls, glaciers and a walk to remember. We had an amazing time at Rupin and we expect better next time travelling with more like minded people.

Ashok form Mumbai

Trekking in Himalayas had been on my bucket list for quite some time. After some research, we booked ‘Rupin Pass’ trek with Himalayan hikers group for the 18th June batch. 2017 It is an 8-day trek starting from Dehradun and ending at Shimla. In between, we need to trek/hike for around 70-80 Km (including the everyday acclimatization walks) through narrow trails with mighty Himalayas on one side and meandering Rupin river on the other to reach the summit at 15, 250 feet. Thanks you HH

Housands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity...

90k footsteps, 200+ narrow snow trails, a hanging village, snow-bridges, woods, following a river from plain to its source glacier, climb besides couple of big waterfalls, 10+ sq-km vast snow desert, Multiple almost vertical climbs.. finally leads to 15650 feet - Rupin Pass..

Last but not d least.. Thanks a lot to Team HPMA for organizing it so well and for the tremendous support.. Kuldeep Chainsingh Rawat... Harkidun Protection & Mountaineering Association

“It was my first trek With Team Himalayan Hikers  and i absolutely loved it! Despite the fact that it was raining pretty hard, we managed to get some pretty good views. The organization was brilliant. And our trek leader, Narendar Panwar - deserves a special mention. He was great with all of us and personally kept track of us. He has raised my bar for all future trek leaders. I have absolutely no complaints. The warm food and the mouthwatering desserts kept me happy and overall I couldn’t have had a better experience!”
